Anna
Telensky (Jericho)

Mount Mansfield Union High School, Jericho
Anna
was one of the founding members and active participant of her
high school's gay/straight alliance and also the Students for
Social Justice at MMU.
Anna
has been actively involved to eliminate homophobia and heterosexism
at her school, by producing fact posters for Coming Out week,
participating in the National Day of Silence as well as designing
and distributing anti-heterosexism cards for Valentine's Day that
featured gay and straight couples with the caption "celebrate
love in all its forms."
She
told us that "I have a true passion for combating oppression
and inequality, and I encourage this passion by working to educate
myself and others about flaws within our society."
Mount
Mansfield's gay/straight alliance faculty co-advisor Anni McCullough
described Anna's participation in leadership in MMU's GSA as monumental.
She also went on to say that Anna has been a great asset to MMU's
GLBTQ community and will continue to be an asset to the community
at large.
Anna
will be attending Smith College this fall and intends to major
in women's studies, specializing in queer studies.
