Anna Telensky (Jericho)
2003 Scholarship Recipient
Mount Mansfield Union High School, Jericho

Anna was one of the founding members and active participant of her high school's gay/straight alliance and also the Students for Social Justice at MMU.

Anna has been actively involved to eliminate homophobia and heterosexism at her school, by producing fact posters for Coming Out week, participating in the National Day of Silence as well as designing and distributing anti-heterosexism cards for Valentine's Day that featured gay and straight couples with the caption "celebrate love in all its forms."

She told us that "I have a true passion for combating oppression and inequality, and I encourage this passion by working to educate myself and others about flaws within our society."

Mount Mansfield's gay/straight alliance faculty co-advisor Anni McCullough described Anna's participation in leadership in MMU's GSA as monumental. She also went on to say that Anna has been a great asset to MMU's GLBTQ community and will continue to be an asset to the community at large.

Anna will be attending Smith College this fall and intends to major in women's studies, specializing in queer studies.
