Elizabeth is the founder and president of Hartford High School's Gay-Straight Alliance. Outside of the GSA, Elizabeth is politically and culturally involved, writing to U.S. senators and congress people, attending events at Dartmouth College, working as an HIV peer outreach worker with Child and Family Services and volunteering at ACORN.

Elizabeth showed great courage speaking at a teachers' in-service last fall devoted to creating safe schools for gay students. In front of 70 teachers, Elizabeth spoke about her personal experiences as a gay high school student. Elizabeth is an exceptional student splitting her time between Hartford and Dartmouth College where she will complete four college courses by graduation time. Elizabeth will be attending Smith College where she will study Sociology and Jewish Studies.
