2004 Scholarship Recipient
Milton High School, Milton, VT

Nicole who came out as a bisexual at age 14 told us that being out and not ashamed of who she is has meant a lot to her and to others around her. She also went on to say,

"I am very active in the pursuit of bringing to light the issues of this kind of alternative lifestyle and advocating for equal rights for non-heterosexuals. I foresee myself always being active in the LGBTQ community, providing support and understanding wherever I can.

Nicole's high school advisor stated that she has been the vanguard of the GLBTQ awareness, education and advocacy at Milton High School.

Nicole was very politically active in her four years at Milton High School organizing a school wide "Day of Silence" as well as creating an expanded GLSEN survey to collect data on harassment issues based upon gender, race and sexual orientation at Milton High School.
