Nicole Couillard (Milton)

Nicole
who came out as a bisexual at age 14 told us that being out and
not ashamed of who she is has meant a lot to her and to others
around her. She also went on to say,
"I
am very active in the pursuit of bringing to light the issues
of this kind of alternative lifestyle and advocating for equal
rights for non-heterosexuals. I foresee myself always being active
in the LGBTQ community, providing support and understanding wherever
I can.
Nicole's
high school advisor stated that she has been the vanguard of the
GLBTQ awareness, education and advocacy at Milton High School.
Nicole
was very politically active in her four years at Milton High School
organizing a school wide "Day of Silence" as well as
creating an expanded GLSEN survey to collect data on harassment
issues based upon gender, race and sexual orientation at Milton
High School. Nicole is currently compiling the data for a report
that will be presented to students, faculty and board members.
In
addition Nicole is a member of the National Honors Society and
completed over 600 hours of community service during her four
years of high school.
Nicole
will be attending the University of New England this fall where
she will study Physical Therapy.
